The UBO, illustrated with a few numbers:  27,000 students including 2,500 international students, 80 hectares dedicated to higher education, 10 institutes and schools, more than 168 Bachelors and masters, 61 professional degrees, 19 University Degree of Technology (DUT), several campuses ... with just a few exceptions, all educational fields are possible in Brest.

The university has several strengths: the diversity of its training, the quality of education provided, the quality of life it offers in its territory but above all, the excellence of research. Research is structured into four fields which are the following:

• The sciences of man and society.
